Now on to today’s post. This is not what I originally planned to share this week, but after hitting some frustrating roadblocks with a different project, completing a quick, easy and successful one was a nice way to wrap up the week.
After scoring these burlap letters on clearance at Hobby Lobby the other day, I decided they should go in our entryway.
And just my luck; there was a piece of scrap wood (leftover from building the entryway plank wall) in the garage that was just the right size. It has some knots, and one edge is chipped, but I like to look on the bright side and call it “character.”
After one coat of Jacobean stain was dry, I attached the lightweight letters with some gorilla glue.
I added a saw-tooth hanger to the back and simply used a nail to hang it on the wall. One or two 3m Command Strips would work great too if you wanted this to be temporary, seasonal decor, but right now I’m thinking this will be more permanent. Who says you should only spread joy during the Christmas season?
This could easily be tweaked to make a great Christmas decoration. You could paint the board and/or the sides of the letters a festive color. Or, if you have a larger wall to cover, make two or three using other festive words (Noel, Love, Hope, etc.).
Well, that’s it! Told you it was s quick and easy project.
Hope you have a great weekend and a wonderful Thanksgiving. We got our first snowstorm of the
fall winter last night (and it’s still coming down). I’m pretty sure shoveling snow will be my exercise for the day. #multitasking 🙂
