Rustic Wood Slat Photo Frame and One More Free Christmas Printable

At least once a day my son asks if it’s Christmas. His excitement is contagious. If he’s this excited on December 11, I can’t wait to see how excited he will be when I get to say, “Yes! Today IS Christmas.”

His excitement began when we put up the Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving, but my Christmas decorating didn’t stop with the tree. One of my favorite (kid-friendly) holiday decorations is printables. I have a frame on our dining room picture ledge that I usually use for my nearly monthly rotation of printables (see my other Christmas printables here), but I wanted another, easily changeable, frame in another room. I guess I’m just a decorating commitment-phobic.

Anyway, I put together this rustic clip frame using some old wood lattice pieces I stole from my dad’s shed. Isn’t it nice of me to help him do some de-cluttering?

To make this frame, I cut eight strips to 15 inches long and two strips to 11 inches long.

I used an electric staple gun to attach the horizontal slates to the vertical pieces.

I didn’t sand the rough wood, because I wanted it to have a rustic look. After one coat of gray stain I added two metal clips to the top of the frame.

Then, because I like options, I used super glue to add two more clips to the bottom.

This allows me to hang one 8×10 photo (or, in this case, a Christmas printable), or four smaller 4×4 photos.

Can you spot the lounging dog and sippy cup hiding in this photo? 🙂 I lead a glamorous life, I tell ya.

I printed this christmas printable on some cream-colored resume paper. Side note: Does anyone even print out resumes anymore?

You can download this free christmas printable here. If you’re planning to give someone an 8×10 frame this holiday season, adding this printable would be a fun way to dress it up.
